Army of Mom

So this is how liberty dies ... with thunderous applause.

Shhh!!!

Don't tell anyone, but I bought the Oprah magazine the other day and I actually like it. I thought Army of Dad was going to pop a blood vessel when he saw it. I'm sorry, but she is a phenom and knows her market - women like me!

My only problem is that she promotes New Age philosophy and tries to pass it off by talking about God. She helped make James Redfield rich when she promoted "The Celestine Prophecy" as a Christian book, when it was actually New Age propaganda. She also promotes Deepak Chopra, Marianne Williamson and Gary Zukav (who is her spiritual adviser)...these are THE leaders in the New Age movement. I don't really care that Oprah is not a Christian, but she needs to be honest with all the women she holds sway over...don't try to make these writers seem like Christians, because they are not even close. Again...I am not saying Oprah has to be a Christian, but just be honest.

There are some who think there is an Oprah cult...here is a link to a legit story:

I think she is a Pide Piper of sorts...but that is one man's opinion:-)Whatever she is, she has made a lot of money off her audiences.

Oh yeah...don't sell yourself short...I think you are a lot smarter than Oprah's typical demographic.

I didn't get a subscription to the magazine, just picked up ONE copy at the store. Good grief guys. You'd think I signed up to be one of her disciples. I just like the things she markets towards women my age who are typically homemakers or moms, etc. *shrug* I don't pay any attention to her new age BS. But, I know that some women think that she preaches the gospel.

I think you're safe from that happening. The first 50 pages of the magazine were ads and that doesn't fly well with me. Probably one reason why I don't read Cosmopoliton and magazines like that. I actually buy a magazine to READ the articles, not peruse ads for crap I can't afford.
