Happy 40th Birthday!
I loved watching this show in reruns when I was a kid and initially rejected The Next Generation because it couldn't be as good as the original series. Boy, was I wrong! Then, it seems like each subsequent series was better than the one before.
What a wonderful legacy Gene Roddenberry left the world.

TNG rocks!
I have seen every episode at least once. I used to own homemade videos of my favorites. But, they got worn out and had to be tossed.
Of course now we have DVD's...
I also loved the movies. I hope they make one more where Data is unrealistically resurrected.
I never got into Deep Space Nine or Voyager or Enterprise though. It was like...beating a dead horse, you know?

I've always been a Star Wars fan myself, but I can do the cool, spock hand-thing....:0)

DOF came home from some errands yesterday saying he has ordered/will own the original Star Trek series. Said the price for the originals went down because there will be a whole new glamorized version coming soon, and he wants the very first, with its campy props and all.
My own favorite was Jean-Luc Picard, probably because of the British accent, and Jordy LaForge, carried over from Reading Rainbow afternoons.

I can honestly say I really enjoyed every ST series. I wasn't able to get into Enterprise because it was never shown consistently here. What I saw, I liked. DS9 was my favorite, by far. But, I liked all of them.
Jean-Luc was a hottie, for sure. LaForge was good, too.
