The difference a single gun could have made

It was five years ago this month that a crazed gunman entered Wedgwood Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Its a church I never went to growing up, but I passed it often throughout my life. It was on the way to my favorite mall as a teen and as an adult it was located down the street from the nursing home where my grandmother lived.

On Sept. 15, 1999, a man entered the church where youth groups from children to teens were meeting and he opened fire. By the time it was over, seven people at the church were dead before the gunman turned his firearm on himself.

What a difference a CHL holder could have made that day.

What a difference it may have made for this mother who lost her son. I don't agree with her opinions on gun control, but her loss is still tragic. Funny how people take different reads on tragedies like this. Texas Rep. Suzanna Gratia Hupp regrets not carrying her gun that day in Luby's in Killeen when her parents were gunned down by a madman with a gun. She was a giant proponent for the concealed handgun license in Texas.

I'm grateful for that. I feel safer when Army of Dad is armed. He would carry his firearm into mass each Sunday when we went and I was glad. Especially after Sept. 15, 1999.

    AoM,

You need to get your CHL too.

I just had a client sign up with a friend, who is an instructor, along with her mother and sister, after an experience driving home from work three weeks.

Every woman should carry, particularly since Dads are CANNOT always around.

    Whose Paranoid.

    AoM,

Shhh, don't tell anyone, but I've never fired a gun in my life.

Maybe if I can actually fire a gun, I could get past my fear of them. AoD is hoping we go do some shooting when we go to Houston in a few weeks for our mini-vacation. I guess I'll have to look for some shooting ranges down there.

I had another moment that made me wish I was armed. I actually have a lot of them. Think I may blog about that.

We have been together more than seven years and swear I didn't know that she has never fired a gun before!

We are going to fix that weekend after next. I am already planning the range session. A CHL probably won't be far behind...
