My birthday present

Called my best childhood buddy last night and asked for what has to be one of the ultimate cheesey Army of Mom birthday presents ever: tickets to see Hall and Oates. The blue-eyed soul pop duo was my favorite growing up. I loved these guys and saw them in concert at least four times from junior high to high school. I even have a John Oates guitar pick. Actually, it with a picture of the duo is framed and on a shelf in my office area at home. I loved these guys. I even had a Daryl Hall haircut in high school for a while. I thought he was all that! I still like him. The concert is Nov. 1 and my birthday is Nov. 7, so it is perfect. Tickets go on sale Saturday. I'm so there!

Daryl Hall is still effing cool as far as I'm concerned.

ADDENDUM: Hall and Oates trivia for LaLa.

I went to one of the 7th grade concerts with you. I can't say it left that big of an impression on me, you know, I am more of a George Strait kind of gal.

Ok - trivia question, and it should be easy. What was their number one single and how long was it at number 1?

Without going back and looking, it was probably Sara Smile ... no idea how long topping the charts. Am I right?

Ok, I was wrong ... little did I know. Went and looked it up:

"Maneater," the biggest hit of their career, reached the number-one spot on December 18, 1982 and stayed there for four weeks.

I'm glad you gave it an honest shot before looking it up, I knew you would. They had several great songs. I think my favorite is "Private Eyes".

The Mister is supposed to be coming home this evening with tickets for Allison Krauss and Union Station. We can walk to the auditorium, and the show is the week of our wedding anniversary!
There's no music group I'm that gung ho about so much that I would go to all those concerts. You must have had deep pockets for tickets. Priorities at different ages bring fond memories.
You're gonna have Fun! You manage to do that with so many situations. It's why I like reading here, usually an upbeat post going on.

    MrsDOF,

Allison Krause is amazing live. I hope you guys have a great time.

    AoM:

::blank stare:: Who or what is Hall and Oates?

Alli, please say it isn’t so, you are so out of touch. Let’s have a one on one conversation. Hall and Oates is a new cereal. AoM is considering it for a new diet. You have to be a rich girl to afford it, so I can’t go for that, but it sure makes Sara smile.

LaLa - good one. You had to work on that one!

Alli - "out of touch" was one of Hall and Oates' hits. *giggling* They are the No. 1 pop duo of all time when it comes to record sales. Wow, I said record. *shaking my head* Records are what us old folks had before CDs and cassettes, just in case you didn't know. People also called them albums. ;)

KMR - I liked Mellencamp back when he was John Cougar. His attempts at dancing made him less appealing to me over the years.

Army Wife - My birthday is Nov. 7. Just buying my bday gift early. And, I told my mom that I was going to see H&O and now she is going with me instead of my best friend. :)

    LabKat and Gadfly - ppphtthpppttt!!!!!
