Army of Mom

So this is how liberty dies ... with thunderous applause.

Reason No. 285

Of why I'm glad school starts next week. While sitting in my den/office area in the back of the house, I hear a giant crash coming from the front of the house.

Me: What was that?

Hot Rod: us?

Me: Yeah, but what was it?

Hot Rod: the laundry basket?

Hmmm. I try to ignore it and continue writing.

Then the saga gets richer. In comes Little Bit with a stuffed animal and a tissue requesting tape.

Me: Why do you need tape?

Little Bit: For a cast.

Okeyyyy dokeyyyyy. At least they're playing peacefully and not bickering like their Granny and Papa for a change.

Then, the red alert noises start blaring in my head when I hear Hot Rod:

"There is no rule about seat belts."

This is the stopping point. I walk in to find pillows all along the bottom of the stairs and a laundry basket containing a stuffed penguin "secured" in place by two toy mops criss-crossed inside the basket and poking out each side.

Nope, nope, nope. This stops now, I tell them to cries of WHY?

Really? You don't see anything wrong with this picture kids? Gees Louise.

Hey...it was just a penguin going down the stairs! Which one of the kids was holding the video camera, and which one was ready to progress from penguin to personal attempt at downhill-in-laundry-basket? ROFL

    AoM,

Just got back from a speed run to Dallas/Ft Worth. Sorry I didn't give you a call, but was only there Monday night an we scored Row 3 tickets behind 1st for the Rangers/ Twins game. Great game, too - no hitter by four pitchers through top of the 9th with 2 outs and the best hitter in the AL (Mauer) steps to the plate with Feliz on the mound. Hard liner single up the middle... 103 on the stadium scoreboard at game time, still 96 at the end. But it still felt better than this 96 - 98 degree, 157% humidity we've been dealing with all summer.

Congrats to Little Bit on her milestone.

I'll probably be back out to the area in another couple of weeks. Drop me a line if you and AoD want to get together when I'm there.

At least they were not pushing each other in the basket down the steps. Who knows? Hot Rod or Little Bit may turn out to be a crash test engineer. You did say that the penguin was secured...

    yep,fun

nothing puts a hitch in a parent's heartbeat quicker than the pause....
as in "is everything OK, what was that noise?" then the kids reply "(pause) noooothing"
