Army of Mom

So this is how liberty dies ... with thunderous applause.

The sandwich generation

Yep, I'm officially there. I thought I had another 10 years before I'd be part of it, but ArmyWife is right (from comments in an earlier post). So, now I'm officially taking care of three children, a household, a husband and my parents. Not completely true, I guess. My dad is there to see to my mom's care, but he is going to need help. Neither of them is confident in asking questions and making sure people are on top of things. Hell, yesterday they were sitting around waiting for the doctor to discharge them from the hospital. So, I picked up the phone and called the doctor's office to make sure they knew that they were simply waiting on her orders. *sheesh*

I just wish my folks weren't an hour away. It is an ordeal to get there and back. So, we'll see how it goes. One of my colleagues at the airport offered me lots of resources to seek help from the American Stroke Association. So, we'll see how it goes. Seems to be ok.

Mom finally got home last night and was much happier. I called and talked to her, but she was tired and it was late and she wasn't really following the conversation well. It is going to take a while to get used to that. She has always been a little loopy and it will be a challenge to deal with this change, too. But, she is home and happier. Physical therapist was coming this morning, so I'll check on her this afternoon.

I have eight stories all due between Monday and Aug. 8, so that is weighing heavily on me, too. Gees. Always something. And, I have my giant writing project for work to complete before the end of September.

Calgon, take me away!
