Growing Pains

Where is Kirk Cameron and Alan Thicke when you need them?

We could use some prayers. I'm sure this is only a precaution and that Hot Rod is only experiencing
growing pains, but we have to be sure. He has been complaining of almost constant leg pain for a few
months. We've attributed it to growing pains and/or those times when he doesn't want to take the trash out. But, it has been pretty severe and I finaly asked him if he wanted to see the doctor and he did. So, that tells
me it is really hurting.

We went this morning and the doctor said because the pain is in both legs and is not tender to the touch
and is all day and night that we needed to do a CBC and sed rate to rule out anything in his bone marrow. *sigh* Sometimes I wish I knew less about cancer and leukemia than I do. Unfortunately, he has consistent symptoms with leukemia and I'm a basket case. It could be juvenile arthritis, which I suffered from as a
child and sucked some major ass. But, it is tolerable.

Anyway, we will know about the leukemia facet of things in the next couple of hours. In the meantime,
I beg for your prayers.

UPDATE: Just got back the results - normal and doc said to call back in two weeks and we'd see about going to an orthopedist or something at that point. He thinks maybe it is just abnormal growing pains!!!! Thanks for all of your prayers!

It's bound to be growing pains. My feet hurt from age 12 to age 17. And he's about the right age for a growth spurt.

    *beaming you guys good thoughts*

He is going through a growth spurt right now, he has added several inches since the start of soccer season since he can pretty easily reach the garage door opener on the wall. At the start of the season he had to jump to touch it and then couldn't hit the button right. Now he walks over, reaches up and hits the button with ease.

Thanks to all. As a childhood cancer survivor, my OB/GYN informed me when I was pregnant with Pickle that my form of cancer was hereditary and it usually starts in the legs, so I have had this fear in the back of my mind since the pains have gotten more severe. I was hoping the pediatrician would tell me I was overreacting, but instead, he sent me for bloodwork STAT. So, that only fueled my fears! Thank the Lord that it is just growing pains. I think Hot Rod has the middle child syndrome and likes all the attention, though. :)
