AoM's playoff picks

Ok, here we go for my picks this weekend:

Redskins at Seahawks 3:30 p.m. Saturday
The Seahawks (which Hot Rod accidentally calls the Seagulls and makes me laugh) are going to smack down the Redskins. My only fear is that with a week off, they'll be starting slow. Seahawks 17-14.

Patriots at Broncos 7 p.m. Saturday
Brady's Bunch will smite down the infidels. I hate the Broncos (sorry Uzz). No way around this one. Jake the Snake doesn't have the playoff experience either. Pats 34-17.

Steelers at Colts noon Sunday
This will be a great game. What I wouldn't do to see Ben and Peyton in a mud wrestling pit naked. Oh wait, did I type that outloud? What I meant to say is that this will be a QB battle. Both guys are great. In the end, I pick the Colts 38-34.

Panthers at Bears 3:30 Sunday
I have no idea. I haven't seen the Bears play all season and have only watched the Panthers a few times. I'm going to guess on this one and say Panthers 28-14.

I think the Redskins will never be that close the Seagulls.

and I also dout that Chicago and Carolina will only score touchdowns. That shoudl be more like 17-13 and it is anyone's guess as to who will win.

Redskins at Seahawks 3:30 p.m. Saturday

I think the Seahawks will put more points up than you think. The Redskins defense has been good, but how do they stop both Hasselback AND the NFL's MVP Shaun Alexander...plus the skins have some key injuries. Seahawks 24-10.

Patriots at Broncos 7 p.m. Saturday

Be a hater all you want, but the Broncos beat the Patriots earlier in the year, 28-20. That said, the Patriots are peaking at the right time. The Broncos are a different team this year though...they have a two headed monster at RB (including ex-Marine Mike Anderson) that combined for 1900 yards on the ground...Plummer has been asked to manage games instead of throw all the time...the Broncos D is MUCH better than last year. The Patriots are peaking and they are scary, but they are still very vulnerable in their secondary and the Broncos get to play on their home turf high in the mountains. Broncos 28-24.

    Steelers at Colts noon Sunday

Steelers should be afraid. Manning will be back with a healthy Marvin Harrison and the team is rallying around Tony Dungy after the suicide of his son. That is an intangible. The Steelers must have a good game on the ground and must try to keep the Colts off the field. Oh yeah...there is the issue of the Colts much improved D...They have TWO defensive ends that BOTH have 11 sacks! Colts 34-17

    Panthers at Bears 3:30 Sunday

First off...there is NO way the Bears give up 28 points to anyone. The most points they have given up to anyone this year is 21 to the Steelers. They are only allowing 12 points per game and that is scary...of course the Bears have a serious problem trying to score! They beat Carolina once this year, 13-3 and held them to 56 yards rushing. Carolina has a pretty good defense also, BUT they are also vulnerable up the middle...lest I remind everyone about the 194 yards that the Cowboys' Julius Jones put on them. The Bears one strong point offensively is their running game with Thomas Jones who ran for over 1300 yards this year. If the Bears can expose the Carolinas up the middle on the ground then this is church...plus DeShaun Foster is questionable and Stephen Davis is out. Bears 17-3

DeShaun looked pretty good last week...

Yeah, but I still think the Bears defense will be hard to run on and almost impossible to pass on. Delhomme will have to step it up...he didn't look all pro against the Giants. All that said, this is the NFL and as we all know...On Any Given Sunday!

I think the teams are all pretty fairly matched ... we'll see how my picks stand up. But, remember this disclaimer, I'm a girl.

GO SKINS!!! I think the Seahawks and Skins game will be a great game. From a lifelong Skins fan, I really think that my team will surprise all of you! HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!

Woo hoo! "Me" too--big Skins fan!

We live in the same county. Don't be surprised if you can hear the cheering ( and cursing) being carried along the wind ;-)

    Seahawks 27, Redskins 14
    Broncos 21, Patriots 20
    Go Bears! 16, Panthers 13

...and, this is a tough one, as the Steelers are my all-time team and the Colts moved into a tie for 2nd with the Bears (gradually, after the Colts moved to my home-state as a child)...

    Colts 34, Steelers 27

Well, Washington lost. Still, it's only Gibbs' second year back, and they did well their last several games.
    Better luck next year.

And I know full well how insane I am posting this on a Texan's blog.
    %-)

At least you ARE in TX. I swear, I know more Dallas than Wash. fans up here.
The DC Metro area is so full of transplants.

I still hate the Broncos. *sigh* Ok, so I'm batting 500 right now. I'm cheering for Da Bears, so I'm hoping I'm wrong on that pic, too. As far as the Colts and Steelers go, I think I'd like to see the Steelers win, but I think the Colts are unstoppable.

Gibbs is a great coach. I just didn't think they could win that game. Now, the Broncos got some help from some crappy calls by the officials that cost them points. And, Uzz, I'm glad you didn't take my bet. Poor Tom. Maybe he needs some consoling.

Ok Uzz, you went 2 for 4 and so did I.

We'll have to wager off next weekend's games, too, and see if I can do better. I suppose all I can do is 0/50/100 percent, so it is all or nothing on Sunday!!!
