Army of Mom

So this is how liberty dies ... with thunderous applause.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

I'm tapping away on my keyboard when I hear all sorts of rapping on the skylight in the bathroom and look out the window to see the most enormous snowflakes on the planet falling.

The picture doesn't do them justice. I never see snowflakes this size in Texas. The kids, who finally went back to school this morning, are going to be bummed that they missed the snowflakes because they'll be melted before they get home as we're going to get up to 41 today.

That white blur on the bottom right was a giant snowflake. These things were like a half-inch big.

Wonders never cease.

Well, it is almost all gone already - an hour later. There is just a few spots with snow on them now.

People from places where it snows will laugh at you. I've seen snow come down in inch-wide balls, but that was a freak snowstorm that happened out West when I was a kid. It was the fluffiest -- best snowball snow I've ever encountered in Texas.

Of course, you probably weren't even a glint in your daddy's eye at that point. Well ... you might have been in diapers. I can't remember which grade I was in.

Uh, the high forecast for Sunday and Monday is 5 degrees. That's stupid cold even for Chicago in the dead of winter. I know this has little to do with snow, I'm just sayin'.
