New Zealand rocks

I've been checking out my site meter thingee (technical term, yes it is) and I have a reader in New Zealand. Do you have any idea who cool I think that is? I'll tell you why it is so exciting to me.

I want to travel to New Zealand. I have been fortunate to travel across the great United States and into Mexico. As a teen, I traveled to Europe and went through many countries that don't even exist any more. I was in East Germany before the Berlin Wall fell. I went to West Germany, Switzerland, France and the Czech Republic. I think that is all of them. Army of Dad took me to the Bahamas a few years ago on a cruise. That was neat, too.

But, I want to go to New Zealand. I have for a number of years. I have had the privilege of having three nurses from New Zealand care for me and my family during hospital stays in three different cities. These women had fabulous accents and were beautiful and caring. They made me have an appreciation for the people. Plus, New Zealand has penguins that live along the beaches. Penguins! How fabulous is that? Those who know Army of Mom know that I absolutely LOVE penguins. My home used to be filled with them, but many have been transported to children's rooms and are living in boxes until one day I will get them out again. There are a few here and there, but not like before. Check this out: http://www.penguin.net.nz/

Check out these blue penguins climbing home in the Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony in New Zealand. You can go and see the penguins in the wild. How truly amazing that would be. I've been inside the penguin exhibit at Sea World San Antonio for a story, but to see them in their natural habitat would be remarkable.

My final big reason for wanting to visit New Zealand is the lovely scenery that I saw in the Lord of the Rings movies. It was so breathtaking that I often pause the DVDs and go back just to see the scenery. It truly is Middle Earth for the movies. Untouched and so fresh. I can almost smell the fresh air. I shocked Army of Dad recently. That is not easy to do. I told him that if I don't make it to New Zealand before I die that I want him to take my ashes and spread along the countryside of New Zealand. He looked at me like I had bugs crawling out of my eyes and was seriously surprised at my request. But, I truly mean it. Look at the beauty of this place. http://www.newzealand.com/

And, my dear reader in New Zealand ... will you let me know who you are?

We're happy to have you in our great country. Thanks for letting me know about the penguins in Australia. That continent is full of wonderful creatures. It is remarkable to me to see all that comes from there. Uzz was telling me the other day about the abundance of spiders and snakes that exist nowhere but Australia.

Glad to have you in the US and thanks for coming to my little piece of the Internet.

I'm from Australia and pretty darn close to New Zealand. Come to Melbourne because we have penguins, kangaroos, koalas, great scenery, crocs and just about anything else you want to see. Not to mention a state full of friendly people. I live in Melbourne and am proud to say there is no where else I'd rather be! You could come for the Commonwealth Games in 2006 cos theyre held here and even though the USA isn't involved the atmosphere would be great at that time. Who knows? You could even stop off at New Zealand since its only like an hour away! Great site and hope to see you here soon!

I think Australia would be a great place to visit. Watching the Olympics in Sydney helped affirm that, plus (you may cringe) but I sort of like that goofy Crocodile Hunter guy. Aside from offering his children to hungry crocs, he rocks! I just think Australia and New Zealand would be wonderful. I used to exchange emails with a student in Australia for a while and he was very friendly, too. I'm glad you visit the site. Please come often and share your views. G'Day!
