So this is how liberty dies ... with thunderous applause.

Ok, not exactly, but I'm really excited to do some straight-up old-fashioned reporting today. During my lunch break from work, I'm going to drive a few miles down the road and cover a transportation summit for a magazine. Pretty fun. I used to do this stuff all the time every day. I will even get fed. Yippee! Always a plus for reporters and I'll get to listen to Kay Baily Hutchinson talk about the future of transportation. Should be interesting.

I've had requests to talk about the Lancaster ISD students who were suspended for not doing their summer work and I'll try to address this today or tomorrow. I also want to blog about this geek who dropped dead after playing video games for 50 hours straight. So much blogfodder, so little time.

Say hi to Hey Kaily Butcherson for me.

I covered a fund raiser for her and met Chuck Norris there. He's a tiny little fishsticker. It seemed entirely plausible that I could reach over and swat him to the ground with no problem. I suspect it would be more difficult than that.

I'll wave at her for you. I doubt I'll get too close. The story isn't real indepth, so I don't need a face-to-face with her; just coverage of the event and her talk.

I've always been amazed at people who I thought they'd be huge, but they're not. Roger Staubach is a very normal sized guy. Not tall, not broad, not even sporting the bug guns that you'd expect. I covered him at a United Way event once in Midland.

Kay Bailey is amazingly small compared to what you see on TV...she has always been real nice to me...I even sent her a picture of her and her grandkids I took at a private event:-)

Roger is really average size, but then again, his heart is huge!!! Still my fave Cowboy of all time!!!

AoM, someone put it very well in the Dallas Morning News this morning....Lancaster ISD is suspending students for not doing their homework, but is letting an armed robber play football for them.

    Priorities, anyone?

Well, the Lancaster ISD is a bit whacked. I may have to blog separately about this. My initial response is the same as North Dallas 30: where are the priorities with the criminally charged football player versus lazy students. And, no LSD use on my blog. Ptooey!

Well the lazy students are going to help them beat a weak side sell out blitz with a playoff berth on the line!

    That's why.

Dangit, they aren't going to beat the blitz.
