National Ammo Day approaches

So much exciting stuff going on this weekend.

Friday, I'm taking Stinkerbelle to stay with my folks for the weekend and then I'm meeting my best friend from high schoolf or some shopping and lunch. Then, I need to stop by the credit union to convert my 401k into an IRA. Then, I'm doing a girls' night out slumber party Friday night with a big group of girlfriends. Army of Dad gets stuck taking the kids to karate for one last session that night. Saturday, Hot Rod's soccer team is having a tournament and then he is going to spend the night with his buddy and Army of Dad and I are going to see Harry Potter and who knows what other wild times may ensue. *note the sarcasm* Then, on Sunday, I can sleep late with no one coming to wake me up requesting a clean butt, milk or breakfast. We may impose and invite ourselves over to brunch with bloggers hosted, but not paid for, by El Capitan. Should be good fun and a nice break from the usual chaos. Of course, we'll be keeping the gas stations in business and depleting our bank account, but that is half the fun!!!

Oh yeah, and the original intent of this post is National Ammo Day is Saturday. So, I guess we'll waste more money on ammo on Saturday, too. *yes, yes, I know AoD, money spent on ammo is never wasted*

Of course it won't be wasted, but we are out of .40 range ammo and almost out of .38! Then I could use some more AK ammo (can you really ever have "enough"). Shotgun ammo is ok, though some more duck rounds would be helpful, but not needed right now. My boltie could use more ammo for the day I finally get to take it out and find out the ammo that it like best, but that ammo is pricey so I my just stock up on handgun ammo. Well that and of course some .22, hard to ever have enough of that too!

Side note, after soccer season I think I will take Hot Rod to the range and let him shoot his rifle for the first time. Pickle will get to come along too, if he is around that day. Or do you think I should make those separate trips so each one get some time for themselves?

a field full of gophers/prarie dogs + a bunch of friends + some .22 rifles + 30 bucks worth of hollow point = Afternoon well spent

Heh... I would've said exactly the same, except for the location being a dump site, and the targets being rats! Not owning horses or cows, I don't have a bias against prairie dogs and their holes in pastureland.

OTOH, make the rifle calibers .22-250 or .220 Swift, and extend the range out to 400 yards, and I'll play the "explode the prairie dog" game all day long!

El Capitan: 22-250 is good, but a 25'06 or 257 Roberts adds a little extra energy to varmint detonations ;o)

Rats, prarie dogs, whatever they are rodents and shooting them all day long would be fun no matter the range/caliber. Hell grackles with shotguns is fun too!

Wait a minute! Scroll back about five posts. There's a gay guy who spent the day shooting little animals and had a blast doing it? That's not exactly the gay stereotype, I'm thinking.

Texans are all so odd. I just love it.

cashin isn't gay (though I suppose you could call him happy, but his girlfriend might take umbrage with you calling him gay). He is also from North Dakota.

We have plenty of odd folks that really are Texans without having to raid ND.

Ya know, I think that first comment by AoD gets the award for having "ammo" written the most times in one post.. :P

I hope you guys are doing alright, I haven't been around much.
