Future Fox Weatherman

Way back during spring break, Army of Dad and I took a day off to let Hot Rod learn all about how the news is made and, in particular, how the weather news is done. Since I watch the local Fox 4 news in the morning, I thought it would be good to get him a tour there. We were fortunate enough that meteorologist Maria Sotolongo (who also covers celebrity news because she's a hottie) took some time out of her work day to take us on a tour and explain how the weather is forecast to Hot Rod. This is where Tim and Megan broadcast the news each morning.
These are the robot cameras used in the mornings. Very cool stuff, which can be controlled by one guy behind a desk.
Here, Maria explains to Hot Rod about the green screen and how she knows where to point while doing the weather forecast.
She showed him here the various screens that the viewer sees. She aslo let him have the remote to click and change the screens.
Here they are back at the weather desk in the newsroom. Maria explained how she selects various screens, how she knows what the weather is going to be and even how to check specific areas. I believe he asked her to show him Minnesota on the radar.
Then, a very nice picture of the lovely lady and handsome Hot Rod.
This is Hot Rod outside the studios in downtown Dallas and a view of the uber-tall tower there, too. We were really lucky to get the special tour backstage. Hot Rod loved it and now he watches for Maria every time we turn on the news or the weather.

OK, your weather girl is WAY cuter than ours. Then again, ours is Jillian Barberi, who is now 9 month pregnant and still dressing like a stripper, but I digress! Anything other than Jillian is an improvement!

What a great experience for Hot Rod.
Oh, and in that last pic she kinda reminds me of Pat Benatar!
