Bad things happen when you do stupid things

Tonight, I had my purse stolen from my car complete with checkbook, a few credit cards and some keys. I'm really regretting the stupid act of thinking my purse was secure hidden under a few blankets and towels.

Never EVER leave your purse and important information and items unsecured in your vehicle. My husband has lectured me about this for ages and now I'm paying the price.

Don't let it happen to you.

What was a great day and likely a great weekend is now ruined with fear and worries of what this theft will bring, as well as all the associated costs that will go with it.

Aww - I'm SO sorry - that's awful. Where was your car? Craig had his IPOD stolen out of his car and it was in his center console. It was weird because nothing was in his car that could be seen. They didn't even break windows - we're still at a loss on how they got in, but there were dents all around the window where they tried.

Hope everything gets cancelled and it all works out as good as it can.

Oh AoM, don't beat yourself up. You were excited about the reunion, had other things on your mind. Maybe you should, I dunno, NOT TELL ON YOURSELF, yes that's it. I won't say anything.

Seriously, sorry about your bad luck...what a pain.

Wow, how fucking sucky. It sounds like you took the same precautions that most everybody else takes. Sometimes you just get unlucky.

If you find out who did it, I'll puke on them for you.

Dammit, AoM! :-( I'm so sorry for your having to deal with the hassle. It's a shame we have to be so guarded all the time. When my mom and dad first moved to NC, they had some friends who never locked their front door! Well, being transplants from NoVA, my parents always did, as well as the cars. Some of the locals thought they were a bit crazy. Well, it's a crazy world, and an "ounce of prevention...", as the saying goes. I pray that any damage is minimal, and you get your sense of peace back soon!

Let me help you feel better...'cause I have a feeling that if hubby hadn't have lectured on this, it wouldn't feel so bad!;) Friday morning, I backed out of our driveway on the way to soccer camp and hit my husband's front bumper!!! Aargh! Yes, it did damage alright...And the worst part is that he always warns me NOT TO HIT HIS CAR WHEN I'M BACKING OUT!! He's never had an accident (until now, if it counts that he wasn't in the car and actually in the shower at the time) and oh, I've had maybe 8? in my adult lifetime? Aargh! I feel your pain...

We had bills taken out of our mailbox the day we left to go out of the country. We were way lucky that when the shipment of computers arrived at our house (you read that right), my dad was there to bring in the mail. The buggers even taped a note on our door telling the delivery man to leave the stuff, so they wouldn't have to sign for anything.

I feel your pain. It will get better. Sending positive vibes your way ...

We were at a parking lot across from Six Flags in Arlington. We were going to the Rangers game.

seems like everyone I talk to has some sort of similiar instance from the bills out of the mailbox to having their purses stolen, too. Just this morning at Little Bit's preschool, someone's wallet was stolen from their car!!!! I just hate bad people. It is hard to work for your money, but I can't imagine stealing from people. Just really really bothers me.

Thanks for all the kind words.
