I'm so sad

You know, I really shouldn't let it bug me, but it does bother me that someone would make an allegation that other parents shouldn't let their children in my house because somehow I'm immoral because of the bachelorette veil I posted below. That just breaks my heart.

I can't seem to get into blogging right now. So, I guess I'll return to cleaning house and doing my chores. I presume that I'm not corrupting any children by doing that.

*sigh*

AoM: Don't EVEN let it bug you. The world is full of sanctimoneous pigs who believe they can dictate the details of morality to the world. There's no getting around it.

    Don't feed the trolls.

I'm guessing what the critical poster intended to convey is that your blog seems to be somewhat contradictory at times - but that poster also clearly doesn't understand that being conservative politically often has little to do with being conservative socially. Also, if people choose to celebrate a bachelorette party in the stereotypical trashy ways, that doesn't really have anything to do with how they raise their children - it just means they want to whoop it up and look at naked men - probably because they wish their real mean looked all buffed, oil and slightly gay. Getting drunk, ogling people who aren't your beloved - what better way to say "I love you and I'll be with you forever. You're more than enough man for me."

Many of my friends have gone the route of just going out and having a few drinks and talking about life and how excited they are to be getting married. Others have done what-might-sound-like-boring activities to some - including, for example, a cooking class together where you participate and cook and have fun and talk. They're fun girls - but are a little grossed about by the stripclub and find it disrespectful to their respective intended grooms. They had a blast cooking. Also involved in a pottery event - and that was awesome.

But that's all irrelevant in this case - so the critical poster should have stayed quiet - as clearly the bride in question is more of the previously mentioned type of woman. Ogle a little - get some slick naked guy to rub all over her - then go home for some nookie with her regular guy. That'll make him feel good.

Thanks Kat, Gadfly and Alli. I appreciate your kind words.

Pat - thanks for putting a name to your post, it is appreciated. I appreciate you noting that political views and social views can be very different, you are right. Regarding the evening of debauchery, I have a very good relationship with my husband as Kat does with her fiance. Neither of us is threatened by our men ogling women who are 20 years younger and in better shape. I know he loves me and is going to come home to me. It is the same thing for us when it comes to looking at scantily clad - and yes, often, gay men. It is fun to look at the eye candy and just because we're looking doesn't mean we don't find our men attractive. If you went through all my blog entries, you would see that I find my husband to be one of the most attractive men in the world. I think he is HOT. He knows I feel that way. And, when one of us comes home from a strip club, you can bet that we are all worked up and ready for big sex with the person that we love. The fact that he comes home to me speaks volumes, and vice versa.

I'm glad you enjoyed the cooking and pottery classes. I love to do neat new stuff like that, too. However, this evening of frolicking is for Kat and we're going to whoop it up.

Pat: I agree with you that it's disrespectful to your fiance. Everyone has their own ideas of relationships and feelings about how to behave in them. If going to strip clubs is AoM's and AoD's thing sometimes and that helps them to get worked up for big sex, then more power to them. Obviously it's not your thing and it's not mine either. I got married last year and I have a very sweet husband - and a fun guy - but his idea of fun ain't strip-clubbin' it. His buddies went out for drinks and a pro baseball game for his b-party - were out from 11 a.m. until around midnight and he loved it. I actually, ironically since you mentioend it, did the pottery thing. It was so much fun and great bonding - just doing something interesting and laughing and having a great time. Learning to cook something interesting sounds fun too. We had a few drinks afterwards and talked about the future - possible kids, what a great caring man he is, etc. - we even talked aobut how odd the tradition is of getting liquored up and letting oily disease-riddled men rub all over you - or near you. Sick.

But clearly while some of that strip thing may be AoM's thing, it isn't for Kat. She seems to think her hubby-to-be isn't bothered but I've got news for her - he is, even if he doesn't say something. He's probably a good enough guy and doesn't want to be "that" guy who might appear to be threatened. The fact is - if you love your man (or woman) you don't need that thrill or that boost to get excited for your lover. I have the best sex around with my hubby and it's all about us - we don't need to get worked up by some naked stranger. We're daring and adventurous together and never gets bored - but some people need to watch porn together or strip clubs to get it going. Whatever works...

My way works for me and you Pat; the other works for them. That's what makes it a great world - lots of opinions!

I didn't mean to preach - just statin' my views. I assume AoM is okay with that given the fact she has a blog. We are all different. Perhaps I'm not wanted around here for stating my views - and maybe I crossed too far by saying this fiance person is bothered (how would i truly know) - but I only wanted to express that my personal thought is that it's pretty pathetic and sad. Respect of your spouse begins well before you even marry - what kind of framework is taht to start on? I personally don't agree with strip clubs but I don't have anything against someone who needs that. I wouldn't want to tell my children one day - talking about the wedding prep or how i live my life in general - how I went and looked at naked strangers - but some people don't care about stuff like that. Maybe kat doesn't want children for example - so she doesn't care what she does or who she has to set examples for. Maybe she has nobody. Maybe this fiance goes to strip clubs all the time and that's what he's doing for his b-party. That's great for them. When they get home - they can pretend the person they're being with is someone they just saw. Even AoM said that after strip clubs her and hub have great intimacy. IF that works for people - I say more power to them that need this help or variety.

AoM...don't let these sexually repressed people bother you. It happens on my blog all the time. Except usually I get ten emails every time I post on sex toys or porn, explaining how I am an evil person just like my pederast father and I will burn in hell if I don't repent. LOL! Take it all with a grain of salt. I think you're peachy keen jellybean! Keep it up. If more conservatives were as socially and sexually openminded as you and AoD, I would have a much wider group of people to hang out with.

WOW...its funny how certain topics tend to add to the comments section! I don't have too much to say about the questioned post, but as the ex-husband of AoM and the father to her eldest, I must reiterate that she is a great mother. She is fiercely protective of her family and a fair disciplinarian...and a loyal conservative:-)

Personally I do not go to strip clubs as I think they debase and corrupt certain portions of our weak-minded society and the idea of handing over MY hard-earned money to some chick that would never give me the time of day outside of the club is nonsensical. Its like paying a prostitute to NOT sleep with you:-) That being said, I don't think people who go to these are bad people...they are just different from me. If they choose to use their disposable income to help these "performers" make a living, then have at it...as long as they do not allow the activity to cause financial or spiritual problems within the family. My views as a Christian are just that...my views.

Personally, (use Cricket voice AoM) if I was married or dating someone, I would choose to be respectful to her and abstain from such things and I would expect her to be equally respectful of my beliefs and to abstain...that is just basic relationship courtesy...but if a couple comes to a MUTUAL agreement to the opposite, then that is their personal business and more power to them.

I am quite an obsessive father...I try to pass my core values onto him and believe me...his mother and I (and AoD) are all on the same page. All three of us stress compassion, dignity, modesty and common courtesy when he interacts with people. He even tells me when he thinks certain girls are dressed "too sexy":-)I guess what I am trying to say is that AoM is a wonderful and caring mother. If her actions were compromising his Christian upbringing and his innocence, trust me, I would make my feelings known. Despite my laidback personality, I am fiercely opinionated when it comes to my incredible mini-Uzz...thankfully AoM and I have a great relationship which allows for healthy discussion in respect to our son...too be honest, we rarely disagree about anything:-)

My idea of fun is talking to friends, having a beer and watching as much football (and other sports) as much as I can. Live music is my idea of a fun night! Going to a movie=FUN. Strip clubs to me are just sad places and do nothing to advance society as a whole. Then again...I am often viewed as weird, so what do I know.

I have known Kat a LONG time and despite her liberal ways, she is really a great person! Crazy? Yes. Wild? Yes. Evil? No...except for the liberal thing;-) I am just glad she has finally found someone that makes her happy and treats her well:-) If she wants the "sash of male organs", then by all means let her have it.

I'm sure they're one and the same person or a two-headed troll working in conjunction with one another. Either way, it cracked me up.

This is the 109 year old again. It's morning (OK afternoon), and reading the comments I had some more thoughts on the topic. I appreciate some of the other commentators too.

I think you'll all a bunch of really swell people. Really. I guess my problem is that you just are either pretty hypocritical conservatives OR lousy Republicans. That's pretty clear. Repug's would gladly shutter the strip club and regulate the amount of skin showing and clothing worn. Everywhere, Everytime. I've seen it done in schools by them and heard them express the same sentiments to me time and time again. I've seen clubs driven out of towns by the proverbial peasants with pitchforks and flaming pitch too. They DON'T want to leave well enough alone. They Never have. They DON'T want to promote a 'live and let live' philosophy. They've not done so for the 85 years I've been voting.

So If you don't know who Judge Robert Bork was or is, look to the USSC (The Supreme Court). [Hey how about doing a Goggle on him?] The USSC, they're just about as Un Libertine as you can get and still be 'Mericans. And they're mostly Repug's too. They, NOT you, will be deciding whether or not you can enjoy the freedom that you speak to hear. You've helped that disaster along by electing their chief monkey, Bush. I don't fault you completely for that, afterall, you're pretty young and well still pretty ignorant of the ways of the world. (Not that folks Ignorant, NOT 'stupid' as in 'unknowing').

Now how a lovely lady like Lab Kat can think that hanging out in strip bars is a 'good feminist' thing to do is beyond me too, any more so than a mom who teaches in the local church can do so. But again in my day there were burlesque houses, but none of those ladies ever got nakkid, and all were, yes, performers and Real dancers. So color me a bit confused here about how folks describe themselves. Very few feminists I know would find themselves in strip clubs, (unless it was to be there to study it as a subculture) but again most of the feminists I know are grey haired old ladies or dead.

So I guess what I'm saying is that I hope you live the life you live to the fullest. It's a fine thing that the ex-hubby stuck up for you too. That's some real class there, and I mean that. He's got the right take on the whole skin industry deal too. enjoy sex, enjoy teaching, enjoy shooting, enjoy spreading the good news of your lord. Whatever floats your boat. But know if you describe yourself as a 'Republican' people come to expect certain things from you. They expect you to be more than a bit conservative when it comes to matters of public morality and even yes, Private morality. That's something that's been a consistent Republican theme for well over 100 years. Look it up. So perhaps it's not the life you live that needs rethinking, but the way you describe and think about who you are and eventually yes, how you vote. Now in TX this might not make a damn bit of difference (what's one less Repug, right)? But in the wider world our choices are being constrained by the politics you promote, and that's pretty nasty to my mind.

So all this may be a bit heavy for a simple damn penis post on a Sat afternoon. So let me wish all the kids well and that your biopsy comes out completely negative. I don't mean to pass along any meanness. I'm just more than a bit confused by how you think of yourself as a 'Republican'. They'd gladly burn you and Kat at the stake for less than the stuff that goes on at a typical 'strip club' bachelor/ette party now a days. And yes, that commonly includes plenty of 'contact' and 'exchange of bodily fluids' with total strangers. 'Nuff said darlins have fun.

First off, I haven't said it before now, but most 109-year-olds don't know how to use the new-fangledy computers and certainly don't surf the net. At least none of the seasoned citizens I know do. So, hardy har har.

Regardless. I'm not sure why sweet little old me has gotten your Depends in such a wad. I did a search for the Bjork guy and didn't find anything that really impressed me. *shrug* Chalk it up to my mere 36 years of existence. I like you for the mere fact that you're saying I'm young. Bless your soul.

I have never claimed to be a feminist and don't believe in most of that stuff. LabKat can respond on her own to that stuff.

And, deal with the Republican stuff. You vote your conscience and I'll vote mine. I would rather vote for a party that, in your words, doesn't "live and let live" in exchange for not voting for baby-killing pro-abortion, pro gun control people. But, that is a whole other issue. Don't worry about my politics and I won't worry about yours.

And, keep your judgments to yourself. I have been to strip clubs - yes *GASP* for both male and female strippers - and I don't recall any bodily fluids being exchanged while in my presence with me or anyone else. Maybe it is the strip clubs that YOU go to where that happens or maybe you're just making shit up to make your point.

If you don't like the way we live or what we have to say, piss off. Go troll around on someone else's blog. I didn't ask for your judgment and it certainly isn't going to impact the way I choose to live.

Hey 109, I had a hard time finding any info on "Goggle".

Outside of that you might want to rethink your comments about strip clubs and those who want to close them down. Dallas Mayor Laura Miller is a big Democrat and if she could get her way every last club would have been closed long ago.

My politics are just that, mine. Army of Mom is a conservative, just not as conservative as you seem to think. Maybe you just "Goggled" the wrong word and got a bad definition.

Hey this is yer Phantom 109 again. Sorry about the mispellings, I can recall when they changed out aeroplane to 'airplane' too. And this "(Note that folks, Ignorant, NOT 'stupid' as in 'unknowing')". was also missing something too. But Judge Bork ought to be one of your hero's if you are 'conservative'. He's written several outlandish books too.

Like I said, I'm all for everyone living their own lives as they see fit, but that is decidedly NOT the Repug way. Just because you can get a boneheaded conservative Dem to run after the 'Born Again' vote by whipping up on the whores and 'fancy ladies' does not disprove the point that for most of the last century it was the R's doing most of it. They gave us Prohibition and the 'war on drugs', they quashed the ERA and attack the homosexuals, those w/o religion and those with 'improper' religions. If my religion accepts gays as ministers, I might as well be a heathen Communist according to their lights. Now they want to tell us who, when and how to marry and how many kids to have, & in what manner and when. (Oh yes they DO!) So I really think that it's relevent to the discussion of marriage. But it's getting on Sat. night, so git out there and boggie child!
