The Metroplex in the news
Big-time media types will bombard my hometown today as TCU's j-school is renamed for CBS newsman Bob Schieffer today.
When TCU formally renames its journalism department the Bob Schieffer School of Journalism today, some of the most famous figures in modern media history -- Larry King, Bob Woodward, Tom Brokaw, Tom Friedman
and Jim Lehrer among them -- will be there to honor the man whose name has become synonymous with credibility in the news business. Demand from faculty members and students for tickets to the ceremonies is so great that no seating is available to the general public. For Schieffer, who laid the groundwork for his storied career in Fort Worth, it's a sliver of immortality and a day to savor.
Kind of interesting.
SMU looks to be the frontrunner for the George W. Bush Library. I would be happy if Baylor got it. No, I'd be ecstatic if Baylor got it. I hear they're on the list, too. But, SMU has been the one in the news as the heir apparent.
