Pickle Aid

My boys have been watching the Katrina aftermath coverage and we've been talking alot about our blessings and how fortunate we are. We have talked a bit about what we can do to help others, too.

Uzz had to go shoot photos of some Katrina refugees (never a word I thought I would EVER use in regards to fellow Americans) who were coming into Fort Worth. So, he picked up Pickle and took him along, since he is spending Labor Day weekend with dad. So, while Uzz is shooting pictures, he turns around to check on Pickle and he has started helping the volunteers set up the cots.

That's my boy.

Today, I'm taking the two little ones to contribute some diapers, toys and books and some clothes. I have been clearing out clothes that are too small for the children and they were going to go to friends, but I think these folks have a bigger need. Hot Rod picked out a few toys that he wanted to give to children there. So, I think it will be a good experience for them. Will be hard emotionally for me, but good for them and me. We're going to the museum and maybe to the airport to ride the train, too. I have to run by the airport to pick up some work, so we might as well blow all of our $3.08 per gallon gas at one fell swoop and then we won't leave the house again this weekend.

Good for y'all, AoM. Reunion is still looking very hard for blankets.....took 'em some this morning.

For this, I think it's time to start really cleaning out the closets, although I doubt even refugees would want to wear what I have stashed in the back of them....

I know that feeling about the old clothes. :)

We have many refugees here in the Denton area.
