Till death do us part

Not talking about my dear husband, but about this God-awful cold, allergies, crud, whatever it is. I'm beginning to think it is going to be the death of me.

I've tried drugs given to me by friends who are nurses and have sample Rxs, I've tried antibiotics I've had and never used before, I've tried OTC crap ... I get better for a day and then BAM! I'm back to square one of the watery, itchy eyes, stuffed up and runny nose (which I don't understand how I can be both, but I am), sore throat, chapped lips, headache, etc.

Off to the doctor this morning for some top-notch high-grade drugs. I'll even take a shot if it cures what ails me. This has been goign on since before Christmas and I can't stand it anymore. Plus, my honey would probably like it if I stopped snoring.

Update: Went to the doctor this morning and got a shot in my right hip. *ouch* And some samples of Clarinex and Certuss D (a de-snotter, thank you Jesus). If this doesn't do the trick, he advised me to take a long walk off a short plank. Ok, not really, but he gave me enough drugs to work for a wihle. It is allergic rhinitis. The unseasonal warmth has caused the mountain cedar to be high already. Yippee. My worst allergen is blowing in daily. Shiny.

I was gonna say (just before I read your update) that the last time I was snotty for more than a month, it turned out to be a weird fungus infection. Detected by an old-fashioned lab culture and an old-school smart technician.

Good luck whatever medical path you must travel. And Feel Better Soon.

I could have saved you a co-pay; it's allergies, pure and simple. I have been taking Severe Allergy Tylenol for 2 months. I take a half dose, one pill in the morning and one pill after lunch. I stay just well enough to stay ahead of the crap. If I back off the meds, I can tell the crud is just lurking around the corner.

Stay on the allergy meds, and you won't get the infection. It's a weird year with Mother Nature and taking allergy meds longer than usual won't kill you, but an infection, and all the symptoms that go with it can drive you crazy, ruin your day and kill your sex life. You don’t want that do you?

Hey, I hope you're feeling better today, AoM!
I think LaLa is right, and I should probably start on a regimen myself. It's been unseasonably warm here like the rest of the country, and all that sneezing has left me ripe for a full-fledged cold now. I'm quite the sight too with my raw, red nose and upper lip, and resemble Lisa Lupner, complete with Vaseline & Vick's. Only thing missing is the "Noogie Patrol" from hubsy.

I cracked up at the Gilda Radner character. I hadn't thought of that in years. :)

I'm taking the allergy meds and the decongestent thingee ... working pretty good so far. Still got one nostril stopped up, but it is SOOO much better than before!
