Army of Mom

So this is how liberty dies ... with thunderous applause.

Hey now, you're an All-Star

Should be an interesting weekend in Dallas as the Metroplex prepares for the NHL All-Star Game at our beautiful American Airlines Center next Wednesday.

I bet traffic is a mess, though.

Go Stars.

It's been a blast so far. I went to the card and memorabillia show at Northpark yesterday (see the blog on myspace). Reading the paper today there is so much more going on than just the game and the skills competition. Players will build a house for Habitat for Humanity on Tuesday, a bunch of guys and Troy Aikman will be going to Children's Hospital, Turco and some others will be visiting an elementary school to promote reading and there's a Diversity in Hockey luncheon as well with Willie O'Ree (the Jackie Robinson of hockey) and the Stars' Trevor Daley.

And if you want to read a touching story, check out the front page of the Dallas Morning News today for the feature on Philippe Boucher who is an All-Star for the first time, playing while his dad is dying of cancer back in Quebec. The story is here.

Oh and I forgot to mention that some players are also going to be welcoming troops home at DFW this week.
