Army of Mom

So this is how liberty dies ... with thunderous applause.

Pre-Independence Day

We're very tired. On Saturday, we took the kids down to my parents to go swimming at their neighbor's home and the AoD and I had dinner with some friends last night and then watched Hitch. By the time we go home and to bed, it was 4 a.m. We got up this morning at 7 to get ready for the parade. Long day. I took about a two-hour nap and that was GOOD.

Here are the kids swimming Saturday. Stinkerbelle was not digging the big pool, so she went back with her "Danny" (her way of saying Granny) and played in the little pool.

And, the most precious picture of all:

Can I ask why they're wearing their shirts while they're swimming? lol

The Texas sun is pretty fierce and we don't want them to blister. Hot Rod, especially, since he is so fair-skinned is prone to burning like a lobster. Pickle is pretty tanned and almost looks Mexican because of it, but he has developed an affinity for keeping cool with the wet shirt on. If AoD wants to burn, he's a grown up. ;) He actually did ok. We limited their time in the pool, too. I slathered up AoD's head, face and neck with sunscreen, though.

Oh, MrsDoF, thanks. We think she looks like some pin-up-to-be from the 40s. I thought she looked like she should be painted on the side of a fighter plane with the caption: This is what we're fighting for!

    Who's with me?

Yeah, she's a better reason than Betty Grable. Put that picture on the side of every plane.

AoD also had the idea of making her a warbonds poster girl ... she's holding the water hose, but she could say something like: I'm pulling my weight, are you?
