Army of Mom

So this is how liberty dies ... with thunderous applause.

What an ending

Wow!

That just sums up the emotions. Wow.

We had been flipping back and forth between the Cards-Mets game and got there in time to see Molina's two-run bomb. Then, we watched the Mets load the bases in their final at-bat.

Wow!

Tigers-Cardinals. I'm torn. I want my AL rep to win, but damn, I like the Cardinals. Jim Edmonds is one of my favorite players.

Our buddy in Iraq, SSG Rob, Rob the Heart-throb, is from St. Louis and the Cards are his team. This one is for you, buddy. We're cheering for them on your behalf!

I will have to root for the Tigers and its not really because of any of the players...its the managers...I cannot stand Tony LaRussa and I have thought the world of Jim Leyland since he was with the Pirates when they were good...he also won a Series with the Marlins.

It will interesting...the Cards have some great hitters, but their rotation is scary bad. Carpenter is great, but Reyes (5-8 5.06), Jeff Weaver (8-14 5.76) and Jeff Suppan (12-7 4.12) against Detroit's Justin Verlander (17-9 3.63 and hits 100mph regularly), Jeremy Bonderman (14-8 4.08), Nate Robertson (13-13 3.84) and the hated Kenny Rogers (17-8 3.84)...that is a pretty lopsided lineup. If the Tigers starters get past the 6th inning then its over...Rodney, Zumaya and Jones are pretty amazing...Zumaya was been clocked consistently at 102-103mph...that is sick.

Just as an aside, let's see how many former Texas Rangers are on the Tiger roster...Colby Lewis, Pudge Rodriguez, Kenny Rogers, Marcus Thames and even Matt Stairs played a few games here this year.

All that said...it still comes down to disliking LaRussa...the Tigers swept the Cards this year in interleague play, but Carpenter is their only returning starter from that series.

Anyway...that Game 7 was great and its always good to see the Mets lose!
