So this is how liberty dies ... with thunderous applause.

And, I'm supposed to care .... why?

I don't mean to be crass to someone's loss. I can remember the emotional devastation that I experienced when I lost pets. Hell, I even had two hamsters - Nolan and Ryan - whom I wept over for days when they died. I loved those little critters.

But, alas, no news wire service felt compelled to run a story about my loss. So, exactly why should I care that George Clooney's pig died? I mean, really? Someone got paid to write that story. Someone got paid to edit that story. Someone got paid to put that story on the Internet. I clicked on the link thinking there might be some good scandal there or something that makes it newsworthy. Nope, just that his pot belly pig oinked its last snort while Clooney was out of town promoting a movie.

Hmm. *scratching my chin* Remind me why this is newsworthy? First, we have Britney Spears' cooch, now we have George Clooney's dead pig. I can see the appeal with the hoochie mama's goods, but the pig? Now, if you wanted to flash some of Clooney's family jewels, then, that is a story/image worth reading/seeing.

Oh, and on a creepy note, I think both my MIL and FIL read my blog. I know my sister-in-law reads it. I saw my eldest son reading it the other day, too. I'm going to have to scald my tongue with hot water and bleach and iron my hands or something (a la Dobby) for the things I write, type and say. *sigh*

I'm a sports fan. What can I say? Pickle was about an inch away from being named Nolan Ryan or Griffey (after Ken Griffey Jr.). Will (as in Will Clark) was also on the short list. As it is, he wound up being named after an author and musician. Go figure. He's an artist, so it looks like we chose his name appropriately.
